The Certificate III in Sport and Recreation prepares you for entry-level roles in the sport, fitness, community recreation and outdoor recreation industries. Delivered on the job as a traineeship, you'll build practical skills while gaining a nationally recognised qualification.
No formal entry requirements. You must be employed or engaged in a role that gives you access to the tasks covered by the qualification (for example, at a club, gym, community centre, or sporting organisation). A basic level of literacy and numeracy is recommended.
Assessment is competency-based and conducted on the job. You will complete a mix of: - Written short-answer questions and knowledge checks - Practical demonstrations observed by your trainer/assessor - Workplace projects and third-party reports from your supervisor - A logbook of workplace hours and activities You must be deemed competent in every unit to be awarded the qualification. There are no exams.
Graduates typically move into roles such as: - Community recreation officer - Sport and recreation trainee or coordinator - Sports development officer - Program assistant at a sporting club or association - Aquatic and community facility assistant - Pathway to Certificate IV in Sport Development or Certificate IV in Community Development
From here you can progress to a Certificate IV in Sport Development, Certificate IV in Community Development, Certificate IV in Leadership and Management, or move directly into ongoing employment in the sport and recreation sector.
