The Indigenous Cadetship Program connects Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander university students with paid workplace opportunities that complement their studies and support their career goals.
You'll gain workplace experience, build professional connections and receive support from an Indigenous Mentor and study allowance.
Whether you're studying business, education, health, IT, engineering, law, arts or any other field, this program helps you build the confidence, experience and connections to take your next step.
Cadetship Benefits
Financial Support
Study allowance up to $13,000/year (pro-rata) and book allowance up to $1,000/year (pro-rata).
Industry Experience
Up to 50 days of paid work experience per year in your field of study.
Professional Networks
Build valuable industry connections and mentors.
Indigenous Mentors
Access to an Indigenous Mentor for personal, cultural and career support.

Am I eligible?
Our Indigenous Cadetship opportunities are open to students across Australia. To be eligible you must:
- Be of Aboriginal Australian and/or Torres Strait Islander descent
- Identify as Aboriginal Australian and/or Torres Strait Islander
- Be accepted as Aboriginal Australian and/or Torres Strait Islander in the community in which you live or have lived
- Be enrolled for full-time study (at least 75% of the full-time load) at a university located in Australia
- Be enrolled in your first undergraduate degree
- Be studying full time (unless in your final year)
- Be an Australian resident
